Evidence brief: Compounded oral GLP-1s: what is and is not approved

Evidence, regulatory labeling and study-context review. Independent review of compounded oral semaglutide, drops, dissolving tablets and oral tirzepatide marketing. Compare evidence, approvals and safety red flags.

Current status

Not an FDA-approved oral weight-management product. Avoid advertisements claiming the FDA has approved this formulation. See FDA guidance.

Regulatory evidence and interpretation

FDA-approved oral GLP-1 pills and compounded drops, oral-dissolving tablets, capsules or other formulations are not interchangeable categories. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and FDA does not evaluate each finished formulation for safety, efficacy or quality before sale. Generic pharmacy claims of “same ingredient” do not establish the bioavailability of an unusual oral formulation.

Why there is no “buy this drop” link

We have not independently verified an FDA-approved oral tirzepatide, a medication-specific affiliate program with adequate evidence for compounded oral formulations, or a safe basis for promoting one as interchangeable with an approved brand pill. For a branded pill, use the direct, untracked options below.
